NO NAUGHTY BITS
3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th March 2021
A Play By Steve Thompson
In December 1975, Monty Python's Flying Circus was broadcast coast to coast in the US. It was the Pythons' first time on a major network...but somebody cut out all the naughty bits!
Undismayed, Michael Palin and Terry Gilliam flew to New York to persuade the network to reinstate the cuts - and somewhat by accident, found themselves at the centre of a landmark court case concerning freedom of expression and protection of artistic integrity...
Inspired by a true story, Steve Thompson's gloriously funny No Naughty Bits investigates the nature of comedy, the operation of censorship, and the complex misunderstanding implicit in the Anglo-American relationship
THE RADIO FOLK
Show Dates TBC After Lockdown Ends
Shinfield Players present … at some point … The Radio Folk
We’re thrilled to announce that a BRAND NEW PLAY will be making its debut at Shinfield.
We just can’t tell you when yet!
The Radio Folk has been devised … scripted … and is being rehearsed entirely via video conference during lockdown.
It’s being brought to you by the team behind our smash-hit production of The 39 Steps …
… and it promises to be every bit as exciting, dynamic and downright entertaining.
Four characters are in a remote house waiting for a mysterious message on a radio. Their waiting has driven them slightly bonkers … even the most banal of everyday tasks is turned into a dramatic adventure.
Between horse races, game shows, plane flights and bar fights our heroes struggle to make the best of life and friendship as they cling to fragile hope and reality.
Fast-paced, physical and with a spectacular tech design, The Radio Folk is a one-act play that audiences of all ages will love.
Most importantly of all, 50% of all box-office receipts will be donated to Mind, the mental health charity.
The Radio Folk won’t be presented until it’s completely safe for audiences and performers to be in theatres again.
So we can’t give you the dates yet … but as soon as we do, you’ll be the first to know.
OUR HOUSE
