Girls Going Solo
Saturday, 16th May 2026
Showtime is 7.45pm
One Night Only
For one night only we are presenting an evening of fantastic Women's monologues.
Act 1: The Regina Monologues by Rebecca Russell and Jenny Wafer.
“Divorced, beheaded, died, divorced, beheaded, survived…”
A modernisation of the stories of Henry VIII’s six wives. Admired, vilified, de-humanised. Three Catherines, two Annes and a Jane. Six women with one thing in common – marriage to a man called Henry - have passed into historical legend. Of course, it couldn’t happen these days...
NB: Whilst Regina Monologues balances comedy with drama, it is not suitable for children as it contains references to sexual abuse, self-harm and miscarriage
Act 2: Comedy monologues and songs from the pens of Willy Russell, Alan Bennett, Victoria Wood and more. 20th April marks 20 years since we lost Victoria, so it is a perfect time to pay tribute to her unique, irreplaceable talent.

Dirty Rotten Scoundrels by Woodley Light Operatic Society (WLOS)
3rd - 6th June 2026 at 7.45pm
In the exotic French Riviera, Lawrence Jameson has made his living for many year by smooth talking rich, single women out of their money but then he bumps into Freddy Benson who is also in the swindling game… Freddy's approach is more humble and laid back as he cons women with emotional lies about his family and his personal financial circumstances.
Initially deciding to form a double act, their egos soon clash and it quickly becomes obvious the French coast isn't big enough for the two of them! They decide on a competition to agree who can stay and who must leave town with the winner being the first to swindle $50,000 from Christine Colgate - the latest young heiress in town. However, is Christine really all she seems?
Hilarity and confusion ensue as the two men pull out all the steps to prove they are the best con man in town.
Woodley Light Operatic Society is a roaming amateur musical society in Reading, Berkshire, performing two musical shows each year. This is usually a summer musical and a winter operetta - everything from Cole Porter to Gilbert and Sullivan. See www.wlos.co.uk for more details.
Dirty Rotten Scoundrels is our first show to be performed at Shinfield Players Theatre and we look forward to welcoming regular and new audience members to this great venue.
NB. Ticket sales open from April 1st and pricing differs from SPT regular booking rates. See ticket pages for details.
