We’re thrilled to announce the readthrough and audition dates for our June production of The beauty Queen of Leenane:

Readthroughs: 7:45pm, Friday 7th January at Shinfield Players Theatre

Auditions: 7:45pm, Tuesday 11th and 10:30am, Saturday 15th January at Shinfield Players Theatre

A brilliantly written, viciously dark and often hilariously funny play by the writer behind In Bruges and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing Missouri, The Beauty Queen of Leenane won four Tony Awards for its first Broadway outing and is an absolute gift of a show for performers looking to take on meaty, superbly developed characters.

Set in rural Galway in the 1990s, the play revolves around Maureen, a woman of around 40, who is controlled and manipulated by her appalling mother, Mag. Dreaming of an escape, Maureen’s chance comes when she spends a night with easy-going Pato Dooley after a party. But Mag won’t give up her daughter as easily as that.
